Bio

Playing With The Hand I Was Dealt will be the first published novel by Nikki Jenkins. She identified her passion for writing after receiving her graduate degree from The Ohio State University. It was at a time when most writers had been honing their skills for years. However, Nikki’s passion for storytelling is so intense that she feels she can overcome her lack of experience with her God-given talents. By using her ability to create realistic characters and credible storylines, she is on her way to establishing herself as a heavy-hitter in the writing industry.

Nikki’s ultimate goal is to parlay her part-time writing into a full-time career. “At times I feel as if my personality is too creative to be confined within the walls of an office building.” In addition to being free to write, she wants to spend more time with her family. “Not only am I writing to entertain, but I want to write to give my children opportunities that I may not have had because my mother was either working or too tired from working.”

Currently, Nikki is working on her second novel. She will tackle issues that are relevant and somewhat taboo. “Many are hesitant to focus on issues of race and skin color or skin shade. I have identified a way to incorporate education and entertainment. In my work I am socially and culturally conscious as well as witty and charismatic.”

“I want to be known as a serious novelist. One who is clever with her word choice and thought provoking in her delivery. The ability to take arbitrary words and put them together to create sentences that flow and are rhythmic, now that’s what gets me going!”

Nikki lives in Columbus, Ohio with her two small children and her fiancé.
